Letter from our Secretary

Dear Palouse Suzuki Strings Families:
The PSS Board hopes that you are all having a wonderful summer and enjoying a bit of a break.
As always our spring concert was a time of transitions. We said goodbye to teacher Inga Kingsley and welcomed new teacher Rebecca Darnall. We said goodbye to our treasurer Kara Roche and her family and welcomed Tara Kumar as our new treasurer and Smitha Bose as our new outreach board member.
This coming fall promises to be another great one. Classes begin Monday, Sept. 12 and end Monday, Dec. 12. We are planning an early fall Kick Off event on Monday, Sept. 26, similar to our winter clinic last year.
In response to parent and teacher feedback about last year’s program, we are bringing back the old weekly repertoire classes, and retaining the new schedule of having orchestra/reading classes first followed by repertoire classes. We are currently working on the fall schedule, securing the facility where we will meet, and looking forward to more opportunities for public performances. More news about those things next month!
Enclosed is the registration form for PSS students for Fall 2011. ( Click here) We encourage you to fill it out, and send it in with your deposit payment by August 10, to the address listed on the form. Registering Aug. 10th Early Bird deadline is helpful both for you and for us. Early Bird registration costs less, and it also helps us plan for the fall semester by giving us an idea of how many students we’ll have.
On the form are places to indicate if you are interested in a PSS tuition scholarship, and if childcare for younger siblings would be helpful for you. If childcare is needed the board will look into possible options and help facilitate an arrangement. The scholarship application will be provided to those who are interested and it is also on the website.
Also included as an attachment is a letter and registration form for interested pre-twinkle families, from pretwinkle instructor Diane Worthey. Please share this with your friends and acquaintances!
Another attachment is our PSS photo release form. Please print this form out, sign it, and return it if we have your permission to publish photos of your children.
