Pre-Twinkle Class

Students ages 3-7 begin their Suzuki instruction in a Pre-Twinkle group class, where we teach basic music concepts and body position needed to play an instrument. Parents attend Pre-Twinkle classes and private lessons with their children and act as home teachers as instructed by their private teacher. Pre-Twinkle classes are offered in the fall as interest dictates.

Repertoire Class

All students studying on approximately the same level in the Suzuki Repertoire meet together on the first and second Mondays of each month.  Repertoire class stresses development of ensemble skills, technique, and repertoire review.

Pre-Reading

Students who do not yet read music are introduced to rhythmic and melodic notation.

Allegro Strings

Beginning readers increase their skills by playing progressively more advanced pieces designed to enhance reading ability.

Palouse Junior Strings

The Palouse Junior Strings provides orchestral experience for students reading at an intermediate level.  In addition to rehearsing once a week for ten weeks each semester, the Orchestra participants also perform in concerts.  Contact Molly Banks for further information.

Con Brio Strings

Advanced readers are exposed to more sophisticated and complex orchestral material.  Con Brio Strings meets regularly at the Monday afternoon group times for rehearsals.  The group performs several times a semester at civic and private events and occasionally travels.  Membership is at the private teacher's recommendation when students reach the book 6 level.

Greater Palouse Youth Orchestra

Formerly known as Moscow Youth Orchestra, the Greater Palouse Youth Orchestra commenced its operations in August/2004, as part of the University of Idaho Orchestra Program in Moscow, Idaho.  Co-Directors are Sheila Kilcoyne, founder and Director of the Moscow Youth Orchestra, and Ferenc Cseszko, Director of the UI Symphony Orchestra.
